The programs conducted and proposed by GRID Nepal are divided into three categories;

I.                   Software Programs

In the software programs of GRID Nepal, support on formulation/execution of users committee, conduction of social awareness programs, need assessment, base line survey, sector analysis, feasibility survey of fundamental infrastructures, development of  the relation with local club/institutions/organizations/personnel’s, training  the social  leading  personals such as teachers, high school students, youths, women, local government personals in remote area. Study of core reasons in failure of the projects in remote areas, feasibility & detail survey, socio-economic study and need assessment for Gravity/pumping/hybrid water supply systems, Solar systems, Pico and Micro-Hydro, Tuin (Ghirling), Gravity Ropeway, Mechanized bridge (span up to 1500M) in remote area, carrying out Initial Environmental Effect (IEE) & Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for rural infrastructure development activities. In addition to this, GRID Nepal has provide the service in monitoring, evaluation, social auditing and consultancy services to the government and non governmental development agencies  in above mentioned areas of development.


II.                Hardware Programs

Promotion of renewable energy sources/technology, improvement and innovation of indigenous technologies and bridging it with modern technology. Carry out Survey, Design, Estimate, Construction Supervision and Installation of Tuin (Ghirling), Gravity Ropeway, Mechanized Bridge. Construction of economic  latrines, Gravity/pumping/hybrid water supply systems, community managed irrigation systems, school buildings, trail and green road, improvement of traditional trail and terraces, rain water harvesting, improvement of kitchen garden,  installation of micro hydro power plants, biogas plants, improved cooking stove, improved ghattas  falls under the hardware programs of GRID Nepal.


III. Research and Innovative Programs

GRID Nepal aims to establish a common power station in a local area which will be model in the South Asian region. In a certain periphery of a remote area, we can develop all the source of the renewable energy, such as, the area is electrified with micro hydro plant from adjoining stream, All farmers living in a remote villages are connecting to traders and road access, education, health and employment on the other side of the river using local ropeway technologies (Tuin, Ghirling, Gravity Ropeway, Mechanized Bridge etc), water supply from the solar water pumping, all the house hold made smoke less environment by installing biogas plants and improved cooking stoves, the tail race water from micro hydro plants used in irrigation of barren land,   land is farmed by organic farming and people are encouraged in cash crops. Almost all the resources of the renewable energy are utilized for domestic use and promotion of cottage industries at local area, which will reduce the outflow of productive manpower from that area and the entrepreneurship concept, will be developed. Upon the support from, GRID Nepal is able to implement this model power station soon.


Other many type of research programs related to the indigenous technologies which are

§  able to bridge modern technology and indigenous technology

§  consumes maximum local  human and non human resources

§  based on simple and appropriate construction and operation technology

§  Cheaper, environment friendly and renewable energy based.

§  In any mean the technology will be a milestone to asses the poverty reduction at that area
